program director
Adam Bates is the Program Director for IBAC and founder and CEO of Caliham, a technology commercialization company based in Thailand. He is also a lecturer of international business at Mahasarakham University. Before moving to Thailand, Adam was the Director of the University of Texas commercialization program in South Korea.
Adam gained his experience in international business beginning in 2007 when he was responsible for transferring technology from Mexico to the United States as part of the University of Texas program. In his first year he sold $3 million of Mexican products to 3M. He was also a key manager in the India program where he developed business with Adity Birla Group and Bharti Airtel.
Adam has grown the Caliham company by 50% year on year and has recently secured exclusive distributorship in Thailand for a range of medical devices manufactured by Korea’s #1 manufacturer of blood bank solutions. Caliham is also the partner of Korea’s Public Procurement Service and responsible for selling Korean products directly to the Thai government. In 2019, this role has expanded to the public procurement market of the ASEAN region.
